All Clear

Mrs. Paco made it through surgery fine. Was a little baffled, however, when the doctor came out to talk to me. He showed me the x-rays of his disk work, and indicated precisely what he did, but my attention was drawn to a pair of scissors that seemed to be lodged in Mrs. Paco's brain. Apparently, they must have laid them on the side of her head for a moment. I didn't actually ask, but will make sure to do so tomorrow.

Many thanks to you all for your prayers and best wishes; Mrs. Paco was greatly touched.

Retread: In answer to your question in the comments, she's at Fair Oaks. Very nice hospital, and wonderful staff. I believe we'll take all our business there in future.

And from Mojo, here's a little translation comedy for ya!

Book review tomorrow, as usual.

Excellent news Paco.

You definitely have to find out about the scissors. They may interfere with Mrs Paco's mood.

Wonderful news, paco!

Did you score a copy of that x-ray? Framed, it ought to make a fantastic conversation piece in the living room.

Glad to hear the good news.

Given the scissors, you should be glad the Mrs. didn't have abdominal surgery!

Great news, Paco! Regards to the Mrs, and please keep us updated, if you will?

Truly superb news, Detective Paco.

Better check on the scissors - they'll make air travel even more of a pain than it already is. Mrs. Paco might not take kindly to being told she has to drop her head into the amnesty box.

Audit your bill to make sure the hospital isn't charging you for that pair of scissors!

Glad to hear that Ms. Paco's surgery went well.

Thanks, everybody. Mrs. Paco is home now, but in considerable pain (she had a tube down her throat during surgery which has caused severe soreness); she managed to choke down a painkiller, and a steady diet of popsicles seems to help. The scissors, according to a physician's assistant, turned out to be a clamp. Still, I'm not quite sure how it showed up on the x-ray the way it did. In any event, it's not actually embedded in her brain.

No driving for quite a while, and, er, no vacuuming, scrubbing, etc., either. Now, I don't mind vacuuming, but Mrs. Paco always expresses concern over how I manage to do it in a fraction of the time that it takes her. My initial explanation - to wit, that I always leave it in high gear - did not fly with the mechanically-inclined Mrs. Paco. I guess I'll have to vacuum under things, too - like, you know, furniture and stuff.

Vacuum under furniture? Why!?!?!!?!

Well, Mrs. Paco is recovering from surgery. Humoring her costs little, and is worth much.

Pleased that Mrs. Paco's surgery went well (notwithstanding stray scissors/clamps). A little vacuuming won't kill you, sir. Nor will wiping down kitchen countertops after meals, taking out trash, etc. (Am I projecting here?)

Wiping down kitchen counter-tops? But doesn't that, er, reduce our immunity to germs by making things too clean?

Paco. The Pope is in Australia and yesterday I'm sure I heard him start a speech with 'peace and Christian organisations'

Well say no more.

Glad to hear the Madam is doing well.

Good to hear Paco. Just dont do too good a job with the vacuuming or you'll end up always doing it.

Good news about Mrs Paco, Paco.:)

I recently had surgery and it leaves you a little tired, even without the pain and the leftover scissor/clamps.

A word about vacuuming - it's more fun if you can hear things go clickety-click up the hose. So sprinkle some macaroni or something on the carpet and you'll vacuum more completely while garnering that aural satisfaction so important in domestic work.

Wonderful news, Paco. I hope she has a wee bell by the bed to summon you for her every need!
