Disconcerted to see there is more than one useful idiot, fellow traveler, hopeful apparatchik, would-be member of the nomenklatura in Oz. It's a big country and they do have their share of ticks fastened to the backside of society, as do we.
Steve: I've always said that one of the drawbacks of a free economy is that it generates so much surplus that it can sustain a very large parasitic class.

I agree, Paco, although I would add that is also one of the strengths of a free economy - it can tolerate freeloaders and still work.
