Assortment

1) Patriotism is apparently alive and well in Canada (H/T: Captain Heinrichs).

2) The drive-by hits on Palin have commenced. Funny how these McCain "staffers" don't seem to have the...intestinal fortitude to provide their names. Well, we'll find out who they are eventually, and I, for one, won't support anybody they work for.

3) I guess "Unity" is just another name for "The One". Looks like the Democrats plan on reaching across the aisle with marlin spikes. Further on the subject of a spurious unity is this excellent piece by Currency Lad, and this thoughtful article at American Thinker; money quote: "People shouldn't need to be reminded that our nation's highest value is liberty."

4) Via Cold Fury, Markos Moulitsas of the Daily Kos lays out the strategy. There you have it, folks, from the horse's mouth (er, depending on your perspective).

5) Yes, that's what I'm afraid of.

I left one already - now not showing - what gives? I can get this sort of non-service at Tim Blair or Andrew Bolt!

OK, I'll try to rewrite it: Palin had the Democrats and their flying monkeys (the msm) excreting bricks!
They pulled out more stops than a german three-manual cathedral organ to try to discredit her.
One journo/blogger (nameless for diplomatic reasons) who I read regularly here in Oz actually recanted after reading the latest insider calumnies. He said he had thought she was a contender, but not now!
Her name is up in lights and she is certainly a major talent. It only remains for the production team and the money to do the rest. It's the American way!

I see the Chosen One has asked Clinton administration veteran Rahm Emanuel to be his chief of staff. I understand this person is well known for his highly partisan approach. Less than 24 hours ago, He was gobbing on about "reaching out, leaving behind the failed politics of the past" and assorted other beautifully expressed and sincerely delivered lies.

Still, I have to say it is change I can believe in

Cheers

Random thoughts:

Sarah Palin's treatment by America (and I include Republicans as well as Democrats and the assorted loons) was misogynistic, hateful, shameful, and an embarrassment to the country as a whole. Fie on all who indulged in it.

Rahm Emmanuel is an absolutely abysmal choice for Chief of Staff. Obama will rue the day.
