Happy Feet Friday

Betty Hutton gives a very animated performance of “Murder He Says” on this Bob Hope radio program from WWII (the song is a riff on the hep talk of the '40's).

Er, when did Betty Hutton NOT give a very animated performance?

Another in a long line of very, very sharp "dumb blonde types" of that era. Some that come to mind would be Carole Lombard, Edie Adams and Gracie Allen.

Later to show up as a prop in a Hope film - a record.

"He says MURDER!, he says
At a time like this..."

Mojo: My Favorite Brunette, if I recall correctly (a great line from that movie, as Bob Hope pleads with private detective Alan Ladd to let him be a partner: "All it takes to be a great detective is brains, guts and a gun; and I've got the gun!")

The AF technician at the very beginning of the clip is an absolute dead-ringer for one of my wife's cousins.

I'm going to have to give Jeff the link to the video...

I don't think I've seen much of Betty Hutton when she didn't look like she was having a total blast.
