Thanks. I remember being told years ago that a smile would be interpreted by most animals as aggressive because it involved the baring of teeth. Ever since then I've viewed the human smile with slight suspicion. It's certainly true that a lot of the forced smiles one sees in ads/on the faces of politicians/dubious schoolmasters seems to be a lie. One thinks of Chaucer:
The smiler with his knif under the cloke...
Then again, some smiles really are nice. Julia Roberts, for instance...
