Happy Feet Friday

The Andrews sisters, in “Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree” (with an assist from Harry James and his orchestra and …Shemp Howard?).

Deborah Leigh said...Thanks, Paco! Gotta love the Andrews Sisters! I love them and the McGuire Sisters...all those sister acts! Shemp was funny. A nice touch.

My tastes gravitate towards Apple Blossom Time or Vera Lynn's White Cliffs of Dover. Slow music for a slow person.

Did you know that Vera Lynn is still alive?

Thank you for the link. No I didn't, but I'm not all that surprised. I saw her do a war remembrance concert a few years back and she still looked in good health and strong voice. Actually, "Dover" isn't the song I was thinking of. We'll Meet Again was the song my mind culdn't process at the time. "Dover" was a huge iconic song but We'll Meet Again was the big emotional tear-at-your-heart song of the time. When she did that song there wasn't a dry eye in the house and you had people openly sobbing. It's also completely British while "Dover" isn't.

Did you know Maureen O'hara is still alive and living in Ireland?
Maybe my personal favorite of all time. Just about the last of that whole era, too.
