I repeat: No national coverage of this racial hate crime pattern in the media. Apparently some victims are unworthy, and some hatred and violence is justified. Is Obama going to say anything? Call at least one of the victims? Attempt to bring calm? Attempt a "Sister Souljah" moment (which could actually benefit him politically) and call out violent black racists? Apparently not, and the media has decided that's their preferred political strategy, too.Unrelated bleg: Do any of you Blogger users out there know why the "enter" key isn't spacing the text? Every time I try to create a new paragraph, I hit "enter" and it doesn't space the text at all. I know that Blogger "upgraded" its site recently, but I don't remember having this problem. See? No new paragraph.

The big, permanent answer? I don't know. The little, tactical answer? Situational awareness and adequate preparedness.

People in Sanford, Florida and across the country should prepare for the inevitable riots. The "mob" will repeat the Los Angeles riots, but this time it may be national. Sanford could melt. And those screaming for "justice" will get new big flat screen tvs.
Stop asking "what is the answer'! The answer is for white people to jettison "white guilt", when at least half the white people (or more) in this country are descendants of Europeans who weren't even here during the slavery years.
The answer is to jettison "white guilt" when 100% of white people alive today were not alive during the slavery years, nor were 100% of black people alive today.
The answer is to jettison "white guilt" when a growing number of black people in America are either from the southern tip of the Indian subcontinent, or from Africa (or possibly Aborigine Australia, or the Maldives, or Papua New Guinea), and their ancestors never experienced American (or British) enslavement.
The answer is for white people like me, whose ancestors did hold slaves, is to reject "white guilt" because I wasn't alive then, and I happen to believe those ancestors had some archaic. if misguided, notion that they were benevolently bestowing the benefits of civilization on primitive peoples, thankfully negated by a final embrace of Christian enlightenment.
Those are the answers, and they should be presented wherever possible in the face of: "gee, I don't know the answer."
Rebecca is spot on. The only victim here is our nation.

That's as good an answer as we're likely to find, Rebecca. The thing about liberals, though, is that I don't think most of them are really motivated by guilt; I think open-ended excuse-making is just their way of copping a cheap and dishonest mantle of moral superiority. Makes 'em feel good about themselves; and also makes for a lot of votes among the ignorant and envious.

I agree with you, Rebecca. I have shunned the white guilt mantle. I don't know if any of my ancestors owned slaves - probably did. I wasn't alive then and I do not know how they treated their slaves.
Blacks must own up to the fact that there wouldn't have been a slave trade were it not for the Africans in w. africa who captured and sold them.
