What, does the U.S. Army now believe in giving the enemy a sporting chance?

"The Army has ordered that soldiers may use only government-issued magazines with their M4 carbines, a move that effectively bans one of the most dependable and widely used commercial-made magazines on today’s battlefield."

Read the whole sorry thing, and then contact your congressman (and maybe the Pentagon, too, while you're at it).

Sounds like one government contractor (read "Obama crony") doesn't like the competition.

And this reminds me of an old axiom I learned young: "Don't give stupid orders that won't be obeyed."

Followed by the second old axiom I learned: "Don't follow stupid orders."

And the REALLY stupid thing here? Assuming that the troops take this seriously (on which I will place no bet), it'll take YEARS to make the switch. They'd have to send teams out into the field to collect PMAGs to enforce it.

God, those poor troops, being led by such freakin' imbeciles. It makes one want to weep.

JeffS took the words out of my mouth.

For this to be enforced, front-line infantry Sergeants in Afghanistan are going to have to actually, you know, notice, that their units are using the contraband magazines.

Steve: You're right. And I imagine that those sergeants are going to be way too busy with other things.

Oh, there will be some officious prick, a Regulation Charlie, who walks the line, never straying from the Holy Words of The Official Publications.

He (or she) will work hard at enforcing this stupid order because The. Rules. Must. Be. Followed. No matter WHO gets killed, the box must be checked.

It'll be some company commander, staff puke, command sergeant major, or even a battalion commander. They will come, never fear.

Feh!

The troops are fighting on Obama's behalf, so I'm sure he'll see they have the best equipment.

Were the troops fighting on Obama's behalf, that is: stuff like fighting small businessmen, the "rich" (except for hollywood celebs of course), rounding up republicans, bayonetting Joe the Plumber, Rush Limbaugh, etc, they most certainly would be getting the best equipment.
