Botanical inquiry
Mrs. Paco has expressed an interest in knowing what kind of plant this is...

Not a clue on that one.
Probably alien. If it starts growing pods, look out.
Take a sample to Betty's Azalea Ranch. They'll probably be able to tell you.
Could they be Northern sea oats (chasmanthium latifolium)?
