How long before Redford is reduced to posting his films on YouTube?

Fresh from his nostalgic look at the domestic terrorism college hijinks of Bill Ayers and his pals, Robert Redford has agreed to do a documentary on Chicago called Chicagoland.

What can we expect? Need you ask?
In a statement, Redford praised Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel: “The vibrant culture and opportunities inherent in this 21st century, world-class city run alongside profound daily challenges. Much of it [Question: what does "it" refer to? - Paco] falls on the shoulders of its tough, visionary mayor, his team and people doing heroic work in neighborhoods throughout the city. Chicago has always had a rhythm all its own. It’s a city that wears its heart on its sleeve and I am honored to be a part of telling this story.”
Perhaps the title should be Rahm Emanuel for U.S. Senate (or maybe, President) because if this isn’t political propaganda designed to boost Twinkletoes’ political career, my name is Teddy Roosevelt.

And it ain’t.

P.S. Has anybody noticed that, in spite of Redford’s undoubted self-image of being hip and cutting edge, his productions are characterized by the rankest kind of sentimentality? You can tell that this is a guy who really wants to believe in leftist twaddle, and his almost religious zeal for propagating the faith, his dreary earnestness and humorlessness, mar many of his artistic efforts beyond redemption. Tragic, really. So much passion, so clearly misplaced. If only he had channeled it into something more in keeping with his intellectual capacity – collecting Hummel figurines, for example, or salt and pepper shakers – how much better off he, and we, would be.
