Note to Congress

You are not exactly powerless to bring the IRS to heel. Take a gander at the 16th Amendment:
The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration.
Do us all a favor: scrap this monster and start afresh. Government bureaucracies that have far-reaching power, almost unlimited resources and a culture of non-accountability inevitably attract petty tyrants whose management strategies, whether motivated by ideology or simply the desire for personal advancement, facilitate tyrannical excesses of a distinctly non-petty variety – a particularly destructive tendency when these excesses are in harmony with the political goals of a chief executive who sees America as a socialist laboratory. The IRS is not an independent fourth branch of government; stop letting it act as if it were.

The biggest problem with that idea: they like to spend our money. To them, the IRS is that proverbial goose.

Can't argue with that.

Repealing an amendment requires another amendment. Good luck with that - I think it's a good idea, but the government definitely won't.
