Fifteen years later

May God have mercy on the souls of the fallen, and let justice be done.

Amen. I'll never forget those firemen, for one thing.

Again, this year, I have to watch all the specials and cry over them. I don't know if I'm just wallowing, or if it's real mourning that won't go away, but I honestly think it's real mourning that won't go away. And the anger is as fresh as ever.

Same here, Rebecca. The specials renew the feelings: stunned, sadness, empathy for the families of the missing and dead, anger, and pride in the responses. The firefighters and police have a special place because Richard's family has both. Richard's brother went into the tower twice. He survived but, of course lost many brothers. It is helpful, I have found, to forgo tissues in favor of a washcloth.

Perhaps I missed it, but where was the commemoration the Benghazi attack. September 11, 2012.
